About this dork
Barry is a comedian, actor, director, and improviser. Originally from Newfoundland, he did what many from there do, headed West to seek his fortune. He now calls Calgary, Alberta home.
His first foray into the comedy world was in 2011 at a Sandals Resort in Jamaica when his loving wife, Jodie, signed him up for a resort talent show to “you, know, go tell some jokes and stuff”. Four hours, three coffees (to sober up), five drinks (to get the courage back), and eight jokes later, it was done. He was hooked.
On returning to Calgary, Barry signed up for an “Introduction to Improv” course at the world-famous Loose Moose Theatre (again, at the suggestion of his wife), where he found a new love in improvised comedy. He continues to perform in weekend improv shows and is actively involved in the Theatre.
In 2017, Barry took the next step in his comedy career and started doing Stand-up. He is a regular at many of the comedy rooms in the Calgary area and has performed in Alberta and British Columbia.
